How to convert web site traffic into sales leads
Focus on converting more of your website visitors into sales leads.
Do this by creating a compelling offer for your visitors, create a call-to-action to promote your offer on the site and launch a landing page with a form for visitors to submit their information and obtain the offer.
Here's a breakdown for each stage:-
Step 1: Decide your Offer
The offer is the most important part of any campaign. It creates the initial attraction and catches the attention of your web site visitor and also gives them a reason to complete the form then you are able to capture information - the lead. Typical offers include research reports, how-to ebooks, slide or video downloads. Others might offer a free consultation or a free trial of a product. In my mind a .PDF is a good offer as visitors usually download it and print it out so it has a real world value.
Step 2: Create Calls-to-Action
A call to action is typically a button or link on a web site that grabs the visitors attention and takes them to the landing page. Once on the landing page the visitor is prompted to complete the form and submit contact information in order to receive the offer. Now you have your visitors details and hence a lead for the sales team.
If you have an effective call-to-action you should be able to convert a high number of visitors to leads - if this is not happening you can always test a few options and see which produces the best results.
Step 3: Create your landing page
After you create the call-to-action, you will need to create your landing page. This is the web page that holds the key message and the form for your viitor to take action. Check that your call-to-action buttons and links go through to the right landing pages. Once the visitor has completed the form they should be automatically directed to a "Thank you" where they can access the offer.
Step 4: Test and Measure
Offers, calls-to-action and landing pages are the core elements of the conversion process. But these call all be tweaked, tested and improved upon. So the final step is try different options and measure the results.
